Hi. My name is Terry, an interdisciplinary designer and art director with over 15 years of experience as a freelancer, in-house, and agency-side. Currently I am Senior Interactive Art Director for Wasserman + Partners Advertising engaged in a broad spectrum of creative disciplines: from traditional to web and digital products for clients such as Vancity, WorkSafeBC, Teck, Granville Island Brewing, Tourism Kelowna, Return-it, ICBC, and the Real Estate Board of Vancouver.

In the past, I've worked in-house at Ipsos, at an Intrawest travel start-up, and as a freelancer. I've spent some time in the trenches of front-end development for projects like Playstation.com with Burnkit and for Dave Shea’s Bright Creative.

Disciplines I practice: Design, Art direction, UI/UX, interaction, design systems, ideation, branding.

Tools I work with: Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Invision, Sketch, WordPress, HTML/CSS.

I'm a lifelong learner currently fumbling my way through Git and Figma, trying to make heads or tails out of CraftCMS and Hugo, and absorbing what I can about JTBD, UXD, value-based design, and Atomic Design.

If it matters, I’ve managed to pick up a number of awards — including a Guinness World Record, Webby nomination, and Vancouver Social Media Award among others.

TMI

  • I once stayed out late on a school night with a friend to watch Bill Gates, in person, announce the launch of the highly anticipated MS-DOS 5.0.
  • I danced with an amateur hip hop crew at a city-wide, radio sponsored competition. We didn't win. But we got a T-shirt.
  • I ran a BBS and a local ANSI art group with a spare phone line and 2400 baud modem.
  • I sat in a studio session with the sound engineer for local rap group, the Rascalz.
  • I spearheaded and managed the entire process for the successful accreditation of a local beauty school.
  • I upgraded our office Slackbot to a lunch roulette bot.
